FAQ

Q: Can you give me some general information on Italian charms?

A: The Italian charm bracelet is an expandable bracelet with interchangeable links. They are made mostly in China and sell in jewelry stores for about $25. The average bracelet contains 18 links, but can be made larger or smaller by adding or removing links. People usually begin with a starter bracelet. As you purchase a charm that you like, you replace one of the blank links with the new one. Eventually, you have a bracelet that is unique to you because you chose each individual charm to represent something special in your life. There are also megalinks that are twice as high and twice as wide. They have two hooks and 2 clasps, which enable you to hold two bracelets together on your wrist. And these megalinks can be used in any number on a bracelet in order to personalize your bracelet even more. We hope this has peaked your interest in this wonderful style of jewelry!

Q: What ARE these bracelets that you attach the charms to anyway and how do you attach them?!?!?!

A: You begin with a starter bracelet of 18 blank links. As you buy charms that you like, you remove a blank link & replace it with a charm. The bracelet stretches, like an expansion band on a watch. If you look on the back, you will see each link or charm has a clasp that is exposed when the bracelet is stretched. Every charm has a bar on the right side (check photos of our charms and you can see the bar). That bar slides onto the clasp at a 45 degree angle on the underneath of the next link or charm. To make a bracelet larger, add charms... to make it smaller, remove charms. Once you have removed all of the blank links, and replaced them with charms, you have a full Italian charm bracelet and still have your blank starter bracelet to begin again. There are also charm key chains, watches, mesh bracelets, rubber bracelets, colored-link bracelets... there is always something new. The key chains are a super idea as gifts for men, by adding charms such as our fisherman, ATV, computer and so on.

Q: What is a megalink?

A: Megalinks are twice as high and twice as wide as a regular 9mm charm. They hold two bracelets together on your wrist. Each megalink has a double-sized bar and clasp, which will connect to the single bars and clasps on two separate bracelets. We carry a large selection of megalinks to make your bracelet even more personal and unique.

Q: How many charms make up a bracelet?

A: Number of charms needed for a specific wrist size... 6 1/4" = 16 links, 6 1/2" = 17 links, 7" = 18 links, 7 1/4" = 19 links, 7 3/4" = 20 links, 8" = 21 links.

Q: What charm accessories are available?

A: There are a variety of charm accessories that are now available.

*****We have key chains, which are nice as gifts for the men in the family. These can be made in to any length that you like simply by adding or removing links or charms.

*****We carry watches with different colors on the face.

*****We have a variety of bracelets. Some are plain silver tone. Some come with gold tone accents. There are a variety of coloured links, and some have raised designs such as hearts, crosses or dolphins. There are also bracelets with coloured rubber sections in various styles. And there is even a bracelet that has a mesh half-strap and a buckle.

*****We also have charm tools in different styles, to make adding or removing a charm easier on the fingers and fingernails.

Q: How does a charm tool work?

A: Charm tools make it easier to hold a charm open while you slide the bar over the clasp. You place the bar of the tool between two charms on the top of the bracelet and twist a quarter turn. That will slide the top of the charm open. Then you hold the tool in place, turn over the bracelet and add or remove your charm by holding it at a 45 degree angle and sliding the bar over the hook or clasp. Sounds complicated, but gets easier with a bit of practice.
